Professor wants N.J. to reconsider Cruz's ballot eligibility
"A law professor whose attempt to disqualify Sen. Ted Cruz from running in New Jersey’s June 7 Republican primary was rejected this week is asking state officials to reconsider.
Victor Williams, a law professor at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., who is running as a write-in candidate for president, said he filed a petition on Thursday with several state officials, including Gov. Chris Christie. Williams has contended that Cruz, who was born in Canada, is not entitled to run for president because he is not a U.S. citizen.
Williams is asking that Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno reconsider her adoption of an administrative law judge’s ruling that Cruz is a natural-born American citizen and the lieutenant governor’s decision that Cruz should be allowed to run on the primary ballot. Williams also wants a review of the case record associated with his challenge to Cruz’s eligibility, and of the appointment of administrative law judge Jeff Masin to hear the matter.
He also seeks 'any and all additional administrative processes or adjudicative relief” available from the state’s executive branch, including from the governor’s office.'"
